Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

In 2015, the United Nations adopted a global framework for sustainable development focusing on 17 SDGs. The SDGs call for all countries to address complex, global problems covering all aspects of sustainability such as health and wellbeing, 平等, 干净的水, and climate change. As a public land-grant institution dedicated to its motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve), Virginia Tech is well positioned to address these complex problems and contribute to the achievement of the SDGs through 教学, 研究, 和服务.

Virginia Tech’s Commitment to Sustainability

Building upon a decade of environmental stewardship efforts, Virginia Tech remains committed to sustainability through the Climate Action Commitment. The 2020 Climate Action Commitment includes 15 recommendations for advancing long-term university sustainability and sets the university on a path to serve as a model community for a sustainable society.
